Our Story
About Us
Sunshine Action USA is a fully volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to “Feed the Hungry and Warm the Abandoned.” Founded in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 crisis, we came together to respond to the urgent needs of families facing food insecurity and poverty.
What started as a small grassroots effort—volunteers shopping for groceries to support struggling households—has grown into a national movement powered by students, community leaders, and compassionate donors.
We distribute nonperishable food, hygiene kits, and essential goods directly to underserved communities, including street homeless individuals, low-income families, residents of affordable housing, and those in transitional or supportive housing. Our goal is to ease the burdens caused by lack of access to basic necessities like food, toiletries, and clothing.
Our History
Sunshine Action USA began in 2020, during the early days of the pandemic, when families across the country were suddenly facing food insecurity and financial hardship.
Groups of volunteers — mostly students — came together to shop for groceries and distribute food bags to those in urgent need
It started with a simple idea:
“Feed the Hungry and Warm the Abandoned."
In November 2021, Sunshine Action USA became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we’ve continued to grow through grassroots support ever since.
We remain entirely volunteer-run and publicly funded, powered by compassionate individuals committed to making a difference.
At our core, we believe in taking direct action and helping people where they are — with dignity, respect, and real support.
